Welcome to Lake Miramar this is a City Reservoir that is popular with walkers, joggers, cyclist, fisherman, and picnickers.

This lake has a dams, High above Mira Mesa, you can look Westward to Mount Soledad in La Jolla and, on clear days, see the Pacific Ocean.

This lake is very popular for bicycling, jogging, walking, rollerblading, and picnicking. You can walk only as far as the dam gate (approximately 3.2 miles) and then must return. There are no cars allowed on the road around the lake.

Lake Miramar, has a variety of different birds species that come to fish for their food, If you are a bird watcher you will love coming to Miramar Lake.

There was a time when you could walk all the way around the lake. Which would be a total of about 5.5 miles, but now you cannot walk across the dam only to the gate which is 3.2 MI.

So if you walk all the way to the dam and turn around and come back that's going to be a total of 6.4 miles which is not a short walk but a very enjoyable one, with plenty of picnic areas to stop and take a rest if you need it.

Lake Murray is open for fishing, The lake is stocked with Large Mouth Bass, Bluegill, Channel Catfish, Black Crappie and Trout. Minimum size limit for bass is 12 inches. Fish limits are five trout, five bass, five catfish and 25 crappie and bluegill...theses limits can be combined,, with no limit on other species.

If You are 16 years of age or older, you must have a California state fishing license.

The lake is open for shore fishing and private boats (when water level allows) seven days a week. There are small boat and kayak rentals available.  

Lake Murray is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. The picnic area and perimeter road are open seven days a week.

Lake hours on all days are sunrise to sunset.

This lake is very popular for bicycling, jogging, walking, rollerblading, and picnicking.

There is no camping allowed at Lake Murray. There are 10 barbecues and 64 picnic tables located around the lake.

Patrons can bring their own barbecues for use in designated areas only. No ground fires or glass containers are allowed.

Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times and at least 50 feet away from the water. Dogs are not allowed on boats (private or rental).

This is a wonderful  Lake to walk run or ride a bike around or to even just come with the family for a picnic.

Remember, when you go to Lake Miramar, and you're looking across the lake, thinking about taking a walk around the lake, it looks closer than it is. There are a lot of turns in the road you cannot see, so make sure that you're ready for a 6 mile walk to the gate and back.
